GSM Communication
GSM Communication as an Alternative to the
Traditional Phone Line
Over the past several years with the increased usage of cell phones, many of our customers have made the decision to eliminate their traditional phone lines and use their cell phones, or VoIP phones through their cable company, as their only phone line. With the elimination of the traditional phone line there is still the need for your alarm system to communicate with the central station for monitoring. Dial One Security can equip your alarm system with a GSM digital communicator to provide a secure and reliable connection for alarm reporting and data transmission. The GSM technology offers you multiple modes of communication through GPRS cellular communication and SMS text messages as a backup means of communication if the GPRS connection should become unavailable. GSM also gives you added security by eliminating the phone line that can be cut during a burglary.
If the main reason for you having a traditional phone line is so that your alarm system can be monitored, the elimination of your traditional phone line can lead to sustantial savings of approximately $360/year by switching your alarm communications over to GSM. The GSM communicator will also allow you to add Total Connect to your alarm system. Total Connect allows any internet connected device, such as your smartphone or laptop computer, to remotely arm and dis-arm your alarm system, receive email notifications of activity with your alarm system, such as a child coming home from school, and even allow you to view video from Total Connect cameras connected to your system.
